The Mass Communications department of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) had a annual Sport Week on May 2nd, 2019 to Saturday 8th, 2019.
The Sport Week was fun filled week for the students of Mass communication department, UNILAG as they had their annual sport week which featured in both track event, field games, indoor games, sports debate and sports quiz.
The sport week started on Thursday 2nd May 2019 with the Jersey day, it took place at MCB6 Abiodun Shobanjo Multi media, department of Mass communication. It featured sport quiz which was won by a year 4 student, Vincent Chukwu,the 3rd was Adebule Idowu, a year 3 student. Sport debate; the winners are Success Omonijo, a year 3 student with a gold medal,Napson Ayomide with the Silver medal and Oluwadamilare Asiwaju, a year 4 with the bronze medal.
The day was exciting because it brought the impression on what the rest of the day will be. Sports event started properly on the 3rd of May 2019, it features majorly was track event 200m and 400m, male and female volleyball and first round of the male and female football at the University of Lagos sport center.
At the end of the event, there was a winner for the 200m female relay race. The gold medal went to a year three student, Newness Nmesoma,silver medal went to a year 4 student, Jamie, while Bronze medal went to a year 2 student, Fikumi.
For the 400M male relay race;
Gold medal : Daniel, a year 1 student
Silver medal : Olumide, a year 2 student
Bronze medal : Eric, a year 3 student
Football continues, it started around 11am with athletics 4 x 400,volleyball was between the year 1 and year 4 student; year 4 won the game, female football was between year4 and year3, year3 won the game male football was between year4 and year2; year4 won, and also between year3 and year1;year1 won.
At the penultimate of the sport week,the event featured indoor games like chess, scrabble and tennis.It took place at the relaxation centre in faculty of social science.The chess game was fun, it was played by it’s fan and gurus the winner was Obi Anthony, a year3 student, 2nd was Ore Ajijola, a year1 student and 3rd was Olamide Oyinlola. Scrabble; the first runner up went to Lois in year2, 2nd was waters in year 3,while the 3rd was Emmanuel in year1.Table tennis was not left out, 1st position goes to kolawole Samuel in year1, 2nd position goes to whiz in year4 and 3rd position goes to John in year3.
The Sport days came to an end and all athletics ,football, volleyball and presentation of medals & award all took place at the grand finale on the 8th of May 2019.
Football finals winner went to year1, year2 was the 2nd and year4 was the 3rd.100meter male winner was a year1 student Nife,the 2nd was a year2 student huncho and the 3rd was a year3 student Efe.
To round it up:
year4 went with the gold medal
Year1 went with the Silver medal
Year2 went with the bronze medal
The presentation of the medals and awards was presented by the amiable H. O. D of the department of masscommunication Mrs Abigail Odozi ogwezzy.There were celebrations and smiles on the face of the participants and everyone present there.
The Sport Week 2019 made a significant bench mark for the 2010 Sport Week.
